Privacy Policy for Glimpse

Glimpse ("Glimpse", "we", "us", or "our"), provided by Teal Robot, respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the Glimpse desktop application accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. Glimpse is a desktop application that records your screen, camera, microphone, and system audio and uploads recordings to your own YouTube channel. Glimpse does not operate a user-account system of its own — you sign in with your Google account.

1. Information we access

When you connect a Google account, Glimpse requests your permission to access the following through Google's official APIs:

Basic Google profile information — your name, email address, and profile picture (scopes userinfo.email and userinfo.profile), used to identify which account you have connected and display it in the app.
Your YouTube channels and playlists — read-only access to list your channels and playlists (youtube.readonly) so you can choose where a recording is uploaded.
Uploading and managing videos on your behalf — permission to upload videos and add them to a playlist on the channel you select (youtube.upload, youtube.force-ssl).
Recordings you create — the screen, camera, microphone, and system-audio content you choose to capture, processed locally on your device.

2. How we use information

We use the information above solely to provide the app's core function: letting you record content and upload it to a YouTube channel you own and control — to display connected account(s) and channel(s), to let you select a destination channel, playlist, and privacy setting, and to upload your recording to the channel you selected. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data.

3. Where your data is stored

On your device. Your Google authorization tokens are stored locally on your own computer in encrypted application storage. Recordings are created locally on your device.
Direct to YouTube. When you upload, the recording is sent directly from your device to YouTube via the YouTube Data API. Glimpse does not store, copy, or retain your recordings on any Glimpse-operated server.
Authentication proxy. Signing in uses a stateless authentication service we operate that exchanges Google's authorization code for access tokens and returns them to the app. This service does not persist your tokens or personal data.

4. Data sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties, except:

Google / YouTube — necessarily, because the app's purpose is to interact with your Google account and upload to YouTube on your instruction. Your use of Google and YouTube is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Legal requirements — if required by law.

5. Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

Glimpse's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Google user data to provide and improve the app's user-facing features described above, and we do not transfer or use it for serving ads or for any purpose unrelated to those features.

6. YouTube API Services

Glimpse uses YouTube API Services. By using Glimpse you are also agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Data accessed via the YouTube API is handled in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. Glimpse is an independent application and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube or Google.

7. Revoking access

You can disconnect a Google account inside Glimpse at any time (which removes its stored tokens from your device). You can also review and revoke Glimpse's access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

8. Children's privacy

Glimpse is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
